Join us, Committee for Green Foothills, Bay Area Wilderness, Amah Mutsun Tribal Band and National Park Service on a cultural heritage hike. This is an opportunity for the community (especially educators) to reflect on how the history of our public lands is taught by sharing two perspectives from the same historic event-colonization. Chairman Valentin Lopez from The Amah Mutsun Tribal Band will share the history of the Amah Mutsun (the Mutsun and Awaswas-speaking descendants of the Mission San Juan Bautista) during a morning hike in Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve. The hike will wrap up with time and space to reflect on the experience and envision just ways to engage with the past, present and future of our lands and communities. This is a 4 mile moderate hike. Bring your own lunch, snacks and water. Dogs are not permitted.
