Last week, we announced the winner of the Enjoy Coyote Valley photo contest. We received many photos and images which made the decision to be quite difficult. Images ranged from wildlife to landscapes to people enjoying Coyote Valley. In the end, there was one image that stood out among the rest.
Titled “Sun Rays”, this image was taken by Bill Adams, a local amateur nature photographer who focuses on landscape and wildlife across the San Francisco Bay Area. He and his wife retired a few years ago and now spend a couple days a week hiking in their local parks. When Bill isn’t hiking and taking photos, he volunteers for the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority and supports them with photography efforts and programs in their preserves. Here’s a quote on how Bill was able to capture such a spectacular image:
“I have a passion to discover and capture dramatic light. As a volunteer and participant in the Open Space Authority events, I have been able to capture many spectacular sunrises and sunsets. The Sun Rays photo was captured during an early morning hike at the Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve. We hiked up to the top of the mountain only to find the sun completely covered in clouds. However, after waiting on top for a bit a crack opened up in the clouds which allowed the brilliant sunrays to shine through for a brief moment in time. You never know how the sun and clouds will interact. You have to be in the right place and the right time. Coyote Valley is a very beautiful place to experience nature in Santa Clara Valley.”
We are so thankful for Bill and everyone who has been able to experience Coyote Valley, photo evidence or not. As one of the remaining wildlife corridors in the Bay Area, this area is important to many of the animals pictured below.
